Patent issued for uOttawa photonics innovation

The University of Ottawa received an Issue Notification from the United States Patent Office on April 27, 2010 for its patent application entitled “Wavelength Reconfigurable Optical Network”.  The patent was assigned US patent number 7,706,688.  Filed on July 16, 2007, the patent provides a unified optical network architecture for metro and access communication networks. The inventors includes Francois Boudreault, Hanan Anis, and S. Richard Pramod. The patent application canbe found here

Finding the right chemistry with industry

OnSETT held a Chemistry and Materials Sciences Showcase event in Toronto on Dec 2, 2009. Aimed at introducing business to the resources and collaborative opportunities in chemistry and material sciences available within OnSETT members, a total of 30 presentations described new opportunities for research collaboration, technology development and licensing.

Joe Irvine (OnSETT Board member), Mark Pearson, Dr. Tom Baker and Dr. Tom Brzustowski represented uOttawa at the event. Mark presented three OTTN technologies available for licensing, Dr. Baker outlined the capabilities of the Centre for Catalysis Research and Innovation (CCRI) and Dr. Brzustowski delivered the keynote address on Technology Transfer and Science Policy in Canada.
