uOttawa and Carleton researchers to connect with over 20 local companies to develop research partnerships

On Tuesday, March 1, 2011, NSERC Ontario will be hosting researchers from the University of Ottawa and Carleton University, along with over 20 local companies in order to develop new research collaborations that could be funded for up to $25,000 through the NSERC Engage program.

This Connector event will take place at the Centurion Centre on March 1 between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm. It is geared towards researchers and companies in the information technology sector looking to develop new research collaborations. Under the Engage program, the funds will be spent at the university, normally to pay for graduate students who will work on the project. uOttawa researchers are developing new research partnerships with Ontario companies through SME4SME

The Ontario business community and the University of Ottawa community have responded to the SME4SME call for proposals. Approximately 20 new potential collaborations between the University of Ottawa and the Ontario private sector are being evaluated right now for up to $50,000 in funding per project.

SME4SME is a new program with targeted funding aimed at building strong applied research collaborations between businesses and uOttawa.
