OCRI Awards Feature uOttawa Researchers and Students

Last night the 2011 OCRI Awards were held with over 500 attendees from industry and the research and education communities. A complete list of winners can be found here.

From uOttawa, notable among the winners were OCRI Researcher of the Year Dr. Ben Tsang Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Cellular & Molecular Medicine, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, University of Ottawa in recognition of his research in the area of diagnosis and treatment of female infertility, ovarian cancer and pregnancy complications. RTTO et PARTEQ créent un nouveau réseau pour commercialiser l’innovation dans l’est de l’Ontario

Les universités et instituts de recherche de l’est de l’Ontario, y compris leurs bureaux de valorisation de la recherche, unissent leurs efforts pour accroître la capacité d’innovation dans la région.

Au sein du nouveau Réseau pour la valorisation de la recherche de la Rideau (Rideau Commercialization Network), les experts du RTTO (Réseau de transfert de technologie d’Ottawa) et de PARTEQ offriront savoir-faire et ressources pour commercialiser les découvertes émanant du milieu universitaire de l’est de l’Ontario et ainsi augmenter leur impact.

Le nouveau réseau a reçu 1 million de dollars dans le cadre du programme de partenariat de transfert de technologie des Centres d’excellence de l’Ontario. Les fonds serviront à l’embauche de personnel ainsi qu’à des projets d’infrastructure et de démonstration de principe.  Read more of this post

OTTN and PARTEQ create the Rideau Commercialization Network to bring Eastern Ontario innovations to market

Eastern Ontario’s universities and research institutes and their research commercialization offices are joining forces to grow the region’s innovation capacity.

Working together as the Rideau Commercialization Network, research commercialization experts at OTTN (the Ottawa Technology Transfer Network) and PARTEQ aim to increase the impact of innovations from Eastern Ontario’s academic research base by sharing their expertise and resources to advance these discoveries towards the market.

The new Rideau Commercialization Network was awarded $1 million from the Ontario Centres of Excellence Technology Transfer Partnership (OCE-TTP) program for staffing, infrastructure and Proof-of-Principle (PoP) project funding.  Read more of this post
